The need for power and control is the main focus of every government in this world. The novels 1984 and Brave New World show the us how power can go to the leaders heads. The theme of social class is always a main factor and it also determines the future of the people we read about in the novels. Both countries in the novels are ran a certain way, one by fear and the other by love. The technology of both worlds are incredible and decide the future of the citizens in the societies. The theme of everything stays the same but only the names change is the biggest similarity between both 1984 and Brave New World and history itself. The civilization of Brave New World is led by the Director, Tomakin. Tomakin is the leader of the Central London Hatchery and Conditioning Centre, which is a building that uses mass production and the assembly line. The Director is an Alpha who acts like a dictator and uses hypnosis to keep control and conformity within the society. However, the Director’s secret is leaked to society and he quits and exiles himself. His huge secret was that he is the father of John. The Brave New World has five different social classes. These classes range from highest to lowest which are Alpha, Beta, Delta, Epsilon, and Gamma. The Alpha class is the upper class, which contains about ten percent of the population.
